No One Is Perfect
So my mom and I were talking the other day and somehow we started talking about the illusions we might see when we look at some families/people. For example, we all know that mom who says "my kid walked at 10 months" when you say yours took her first steps at 11 months. I think it's relatively easy to see through this- at least, in theory. If you are constantly struggling to get your kids out the door and to school on time in the morning, when you look at that cute mom with her hair done and make-up on leaving when you arrive, it can be hard to remind yourself that life isn't perfect for her, either.
Because life is not perfect for any of us.
During this conversation my mom mentioned that maybe people read my blog and think that we are this constantly active, always healthy family. I laughed because when my mother-in-law was visiting last weekend, we all went to the park and at one point I SAT DOWN because everyone was busy and I didn't know what else to do with myself!
The point is, everyone sits down sometimes.
I feel like I am pretty open and honest - but in case you missed, every Friday night here is pizza and movie night. There's not much active about that (well, we do dance to the music when the credits roll but I'm pretty sure that 3 minutes doesn't make up for the 90 minutes of sitting before it). And pizza doesn't make the healthy-food list unless you make it yourself (which we do sometimes; sometimes I just love the ease of a night away from the kitchen). But our kids love this family activity and it certainly is a tradition (5+ years now!).
And here's a picture from the last one for proof that no one's active all the time. :)

I think you are right. It is so easy for moms to think everyone is doing better than we are but in reality, they have issues just as we do. Everyone needs to read mommy blogs and they will understand. *lol*
Yes, exactly! And I so agree that some mommy blogs make you laugh with familiarity... some others sometimes I wonder if they have a nanny watching the kids while they blog and cook and not saying I wouldn't have that if I could.... ;)
