Did you go green when buying school supplies this year?
Here is an awesome list of why and how to go PVC free. It's a cool downloadable pdf, although I wouldn't waste all that ink printing it.
If you want to delve further into the "why", here is a great list of resources. It's from The Green Mom review blog, which is also where I first found the PVC-free pdf.
I ordered PVC-free lunch boxes for T.K. and Rooster from Land's End. I got $5 off each one but not the free shipping offer. Guess I should've waited even longer! Anyway, I think $15 (that was how much mine were w/ shipping) isn't too expensive for the quality ones we got.
As far as school supplies, like pens/pencils/crayons, the school lists were too specific for much personalizing with eco-friendly items. But the lists didn't include hot-button items like binders or dividers and I didn't want to worry about compromising quality in art supplies like crayons or markers (because we all know generic crayons suck).
The major un eco-friendly thing? Just buying all this stuff. It was very un-friendly to my wallet. Eco and otherwise.
